Venturini Comes Home; Enters Chicagoland ARCA 200
JOLIET IL (9-7-07)--ARCA RE/MAX Series veteran Billy Venturini has entered the Chicagoland ARCA 200 in his family-owned No. 25 ABC Auto Parts-Texas Corral Chevrolet.
"We have a brand new car that we acquired through CJM," said Venturini, who grew up in the Chicago area but moved to North Carolina during the 1990's to better position the family's racing team. "It's a Joe Gibbs Car, a Tony Stewart car. This is definitely the best racecar we have and we definitely have a car that can contend for the win. When we tested here we had the best racecar I've ever driven here. I always run well here so I'm looking to run well again. Last year we finished sixth here and the year before that we cut a tire leading on the last lap."
Venturini, the son of two-time ARCA RE/MAX Series champion Bill Venturini, made his ARCA RE/MAX Series debut in 1994, finishing a career-best third in the series point standings in 2003 and earning one win at Salem Speedway in 2006. This season, Venturini has made six starts, most recently finishing eighth at the DuQuoin State Fairgrounds on Monday, September 3rd.
"The dirt [DuQuoin State Fairgrounds] was more or less a tune-up for Chicagoland," said Venturini. "I ran the race just to get me back in a car before I got to Chicago."
Other Illinois natives entered for the Chicagoland ARCA 200 include Springfield's Justin Allgaier and Marion's Phillip McGilton. Brampton, Ontario, Canada's Pete Shepherd has entered the race in a Roulo Brothers Racing Ford, a team based in the Chicago area.
