What does the pit crew do between stops during the race? Does the crew chief tell you way ahead of time the changes he has planned for the car when it comes in or do you only know what you are doing from the time the caution is out until the car hits pit road? Thanks again for your answers!

Well, it depends, at most tracks we get ready for the next stop, and double check everything. Then we stand on the wall and cheer... For making adjustments.. it depends.. most of the time the crew cheif makes the call about half way to our stop.. then it depends... sometimes he might drop the change, and go with air pressure...makes my job easier.. or he might make a bigger or smaller adjustment... the worst one I remember was when we were at the second Pocono race, and we were going to make a small adjustment.. then the caution came out... and originally I was only going to put 2 rounds in the RR spring.. by the time the car was in 3 I was going to make a big adjustment.. 3 in the RR spring..bottom out the trackbar...and 3 in the lr..I still remember jumping off the wall saying 3..2...3...and remembering to flip the ratchet.. luckily Mr. Schumacher came to my aid during that stop, and was able to help me by putting the Lr on the car....I was held up making those changes on the right side, I did not get over there in time.. and then once he finished I put the rounds in the lr...That had to be the most confusing stop we did.. I was kinda aggravated at myself for not being at the Lr to put the tire on, Bill told me that it was more important to get the adjustments correct than to have one messed up just to get that tire on.....

If you could go back, would you change anything that you have done, like not get into racing or something like that?

I would honestly say no, Racing has been a rewarding experience to me.. I have learned that the harder you work, the more you will get out of it....a lot like life.. The Venturini's have helped me realize this, and by them putting me in different situations, I have been able to realize how different jobs in racing are...I would only change a few things... and the biggest would be how much I practiced carrying tires... I did a lot at the beginning of summer, but I feel that had I kept practicing all summer we would have been good... one of the best crews on pit road...

Thank you Dan! That sounds like the pit stops can get very confusing if they are actually still shouting out adjustments to you as the car is rolling toward you. You guys really have to be on your toes every second!!

Ok I do have another question, I heard that the tires for the NASCAR Cup cars weigh 70 lbs. Do the Hoosier tires weigh the same? Are you required to do any physical training to prepare for the season? Thanks again for your time you take in answering the questions!

Um, the Tires at the speedways (anything over a mile) is 75lbs, and the short track tire is aprx. 25lbs... I am currently working with a trainer at school so I can index tires faster and more accurately. I work on mostly upper body exercises. I am not required to do any physical training, but I am doing it so that I can be better at my job.
It is no problem answering the questions.. they are good, keep them coming....

What all does the Tire Carriers have to do on a Pit Stop Besides Carry the Tire?

well, the front carrier would have to worry about the grill, for example removing tape, and cleaning it... while the rear carrier has to worry about all the adjustments in the rear windshield of the car...now some teams have the front carrier take right side tires back to the wall....

So Dan, I am new here and I was just wandering about the rest of your team. I go to a bunch of the races and I was wandering if you could tell us a little more about the team. I know like where they are from and stuff but I mean like what do they do on the car and in the shop. I just want to know a little more about them... Thanks~

Thank you so much for the answers! Where do you go to school? Are you going to the banquet in December?
